New Year…New Outlook …New Day

10 …9 …8 …7 …6 …5 …4 …3 …2 …1 …HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!! This once-a-year 10-second countdown is filled with hope and excitement of what the New Year will bring. Resolutions have been made and we are given a clean slate to make changes in the upcoming year. This new beginning, new outlook is empowering.

I have never made a New Year’s Resolution, but rather have Life Resolutions. I have lived with PKD two-thirds of my life and was on death’s doorstep when everyone was ringing in the new year of 2002. I believe those with PKD have a special light within them that shines brighter than most. My life resolutions that I plan to continue to uphold are: show my gratefulness for each healthy day by living every day with positivity and purpose; strive to be the best person, wife, daughter and friend; continue to volunteer and use my first-hand knowledge to educate and inspire; take the best care of myself and the beautiful gift of life I have been given; never stop setting high goals and reaching for my dreams; surround myself with positive energy; and strive to be the best “possibilitarian” I can be.


While living with a disease such as PKD, I have learned the value of time. Every morning when I open my eyes, I strive to start my day like the 10-second countdown to a new year; filled with hope and excitement of what the new day will bring. For each new day is a new beginning in which we can choose to have a new outlook, one filled with positivity.

I would love to hear and encourage you to share your New Year’s Resolutions and Life Resolutions so we can all learn and be inspired by each other.

    I always enjoy reading your stories and the comments people write!! They are always so inspiring. I am getting ready for my transplant soon. They are finishing up scheduling and it looks like it is happening on the 17th. I want to say thank you for your blogs. They keep me going!! I also want to paid out there a special thank you for my sister for giving me a long a better life for giving me a kidney. A Big Thank you to all those donors out there !! You are all awesome!!

      Happy New Year!!!! I am so over-the-top happy to hear that you will be receiving your transplant this month. Donors are amazing…just can’t put it into words. I am so thankful that your sister is giving you the gift of life. Thank you for your support and kind words. I am grateful that you read my blog and are enjoying it. Please let me know how you are doing after your transplant. I can’t wait to hear how you are feeling! I felt like a brand new person. Sending you lots of positive energy and positive kidney vibes!     Happy New Year and congratulations to all who are fortunate to be alive to see 2013! I had my transplant 3 1/2 yrs. ago and am thankful for each new day of life. I’m thankful for Valen – your courage to endure and to turn your experience into a positive. Thanks for your blog and inspiration in telling your story. There are so many of us that need to be supported in our fight against PKD. And a special thanks to donors too- my donor is my friend. What a truly miraculous gift she gave me… Life!
