Arizona Murder MysteriesAuthor: Elizabeth Bruening Lewis

“When my mother Allene was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease, my parents immediately had their only child tested. I was that child. When I too tested positive, my father, Joseph Bruening, embarked on a crusade to learn more about the disease—not an easy task as most of the medical world did not consider it worth their effort to pursue an “inevitably fatal” condition. By sheer chance, my father discovered the first class nephrologist Jared Grantham. In 1982, the PKD Foundation was born. The medical world was highly impressed, but the public at large remained uninformed, even after the death of dear Erma Bombeck. I decided to try to publicize PKD, and being a writer, what better way to intrigue the reader than through a murder mystery? “A fast paced narrative,” as Justice Sandra Day O’Connor put it, To Live or Die in Arizona won a national first place award, and was followed by Dry Death in Arizona and Deadly Deception in Arizona. As well as generating publicity, these books have earned money for the Foundation, and now, with all three books soon to be available in e-book form through Trafford Publishing, more awareness and funding will surely surface for this noble cause. Read and enjoy. How better to celebrate Kidney Month?”
– Elizabeth Bruening Lewis
