CEO Update: PKD Research Moves Forward

Published May 14, 2020 The last few months were challenging for all of us in the PKD community. Many feel a deep uncertainty. And while the best advice for most of us is to stay home and sit this out, we all know PKD doesn’t stop, take a break, or slow down. Neither does the PKD Foundation. Beginning this month, the Foundation will be distributing $1.5 million in PKD research grants. Ensuring research labs working on PKD research projects can move forward is a vital part of our vision to #endPKD.

Giving Tuesday Now, Thank You!

Without our community, providing research funding wouldn’t be possible. And the recent support from our community is truly inspiring. On May 5th, the PKDF and our community united for Giving Tuesday Now. This global day of giving demonstrated that even during the COVID-19 pandemic, communities everywhere are stronger together. We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity shown on Giving Tuesday Now—our community donated nearly $18,000!

Fundraise Your Way

Just like with Giving Tuesday Now, there are other ways to show your support during these challenging times. Our Fundraise Your Way program is a safe, virtual way to get involved. This program allows you to create a fundraiser on social media, celebrate an anniversary, or honor a loved one. Whichever way you choose to fundraise, 100% of your donations will go directly to PKD research.

Safer and Stronger Together

Even though we’re experiencing a funding shortfall, we continue to stand by our mission to give hope, fund research, advocate for patients, and build a community for all impacted by PKD. We’re also committed to providing important resources for these unprecedented times, including webcasts with healthcare specialists and timely updates on social media. If you’re in need of advice or assistance, email or call (844) PKD-HOPE.

We’re here for you. Let’s do our part to get through this together.
