Your Guide to the 2021 Walk for PKD

Published on September 21, 2021 | The 2021 Walk for PKD is just around the corner! In hosting our first fully virtual Walk last year, we learned a lot. And although we’re continuing with a virtual event again this year, things will be better than ever. As we count down the days to the nation’s biggest PKD awareness event, we’re sharing some exciting details and important reminders.

Virtual 2021 Walk for PKD agenda

Unlike last year, this year’s virtual event has a special theme each day. We encourage all Walkers to participate and share photos on social media throughout the week. Since we can’t be in person, this is a great way for all of us to feel connected as a community.

  • Friday, October 8: Fundraise Friday
  • Saturday, October 9: Chalk the Walk
  • Sunday, October 10: Why We Walk—Research Spotlight
  • Monday, October 11: Mission Monday
  • Tuesday, October 12: T-shirt Tuesday
  • Wednesday, October 13: Halfway Hump Day
  • Thursday, October 14: Throwback Thursday
  • Friday, October 15: Why We Walk—Fundraise Friday
  • Saturday, October 16: Squad Saturday
  • Sunday, October 17: Finish Line Sunday

“I’m so excited to see the creative ways the PKD community will engage with our 10-day agenda. Their passion really brings the event to life and reminds us of the urgent need to fund PKD research.”

—Sue Full, Director of Community Fundraising

Why it’s important to register even though it’s virtual

If I’m not walking in person, do I need to register for the 2021 Walk for PKD? Yes! Even though the event is virtual, together we’re fundraising to meet our $1 million goal. When you register, you’ll be able to create your own personal fundraising page and invite your friends and family to support PKD research with a donation to your page. We’ll also be able to keep you up to date on event details and provide fundraising resources.

How to stay engaged with teammates in a different city

The great thing about the 2021 Walk for PKD being a virtual event is that you can walk wherever you feel comfortable. Your team can be in multiple cities, while all fundraising toward one goal. If your team is in multiple places, there are lots of ways you can stay connected as you walk.

Facetime your teammates as you walk. Create a playlist you can all listen to and contribute to. Schedule a designated walk time so that no matter where you are, you’re all still walking together. Make team shirts to wear on social media. Even if you’re not in the same place, you can still feel like a team.

There’s still time to register for the 2021 Walk for PKD
